Below is a list of frequently asked questions which is usefull in
your search. However, if you cannot find your answer here please
contact us directly.
How do I apply for social service assistance?
On the Homepage, click on the “
Request Information” button. There
you will have two options. You can join and become a member of the
HSAC (Hispanic Senior Action Council) or you can request social
services by clicking on the “IPRHE.ORG” icon. Simply fill out the
information and click the send button. Within 24 hours a Caseworker
will contact you to follow up on your request.
How can the Institute help me?
For the past twenty eight years the Institute has advocated on behalf
of senior citizens and their families of many cultural backgrounds.
We can allocate the benefits available to you that you may or may not
have been aware of. Over 70% of our members have found an obtained
services that they never knew existed. We urge you to fill out
the
Social Services Intake form so that you can discuss this in depth
with a qualified Caseworker.
Where can I get information about your services?
You can view the
Services page on this site where you will be able
to view all of our current programs of service and location. Once you
have located a point of interest simply click on the email link of the
location and send your message. You can also call the site office directly.
How old do you have to be to become a member?
Generally the eligibility age limit for most benefits is 62 but we have
members as young as 55 who are active members.
Does the Institute have a medical clinic?
Yes. The Institute has a mental health clinic in Jackson Heights,
Queens N.Y. called “Clinica Nueva Esperanza” the information can be
found on the
Services page of this site.
Is the Institute affiliated with other organizations?
Yes. For a list please view the

Do you have to be Puerto Rican to obtain services?
No. The Institute welcomes and serves all groups regardless of
ethnicity.
Is there a fee involved for services?
Our services are completely free of charge.
Is the Institute office Handicapped Accessible?
Yes. Located in the Charities Building at 105 E. 22nd St (off of
Park ave) there is a wheelchair access ramp to the entrance and three
elevators in the building.
Are there any other offices besides Manhattan?
Yes. we provide services city-wide with the exception of Staten Island.

Do you provide services for the Asian Community?
Yes. We have a large Asian Community in the tri-state area with the
heaviest population in Elmhurst, Jackson Heights Queens.
Do your Senior Centers have a meal program?
Yes. Our Senior Centers serve breakfast and or lunch on a weekly
basis. You can contact the Center of your choice by visiting the
Services page on this site and calling directly.
Do you provide Homecare Services?
Yes. Our Institute Home Care Services program is located in Upper
Manhattan and currently serves seniors in need city-wide. You can
access their information in the
Services page on this site.
Do you have to be a citizen in order to receive services?
No. The Institute provides services to all those in need.
Can the Institute advocate on my behalf?
Yes. The Institue is prepared and qualified to advocate in helping to
assist you with needed social services.
Does the Institute offer any specialized training opportunities?
Yes. By joining the
HSAC (Hispanic Senior Action Council) you are
able to receive updates and information on our workshops, training
programs and special events. We provide free training in technology
with computer training, office assistance and homebound caregiver
aide. We also offer volunteer opportunities at our city-wide senior
